New Zealand Story has made a short film to help international audiences understand what makes New Zealand unique. Starting with a film for New Zealanders to help educate and leverage our values, these are now being shared with the wider world.

Translated into four languages (German, Korean, Japanese and Chinese), the film is a valuable resource for government agencies, exporters, and businesses to integrate New Zealand’s core values, ngā mātāpono, when communicating about New Zealand internationally.
In 2021, New Zealand government agencies, in partnership with Māori and various public and private sector stakeholders, identified four key Māori concepts that best represent New Zealand’s values:
These values form the foundation of New Zealand’s unique brand proposition, that care for people, and connection to place, drives our ingenuity. Tested in nine global markets, these values resonate strongly with international audiences, who see them as authentic, unique, and genuine.
